One of the “jewels” of the Cornish coastline, Portreath offers visitors a wealth of activities—-including just relaxing and watching the majesty of the sea. Its sand beach, glorious cliffs and natural beauty make it a perfect holiday spot. The beautiful Cornish coast is the setting for movies and television series such as Poldark, Doc Martin, and the books of Rosamund Pilcher and Daphne DuMurier. Portreath’s history is rich in mining lore with evidence of its past reflected in the nearby engine houses, Cornish Gold Center, Treasure Park and historic monuments. Long a favorite of hikers, bird-watchers, surfers and visitors wanting a holiday at the sea, Portreath has a great choice of pubs, restaurants and activities. Other favorite Cornish spots, such as St. Ives, Truro, Newquay, Godrevy, Penzance, St. Mawes, Camborne, and Falmouth; as well as famous Cornish gardens and National Trust properties are just a short drive away. The costal footpath, coast road and major roadways, such as the A30, all lead to Portreath. |
